The ONLY Lesson that matters

Each of the names I have used for my auto-biographical characters have said one thing in some story or other I have for them that has stayed with me even to today. The last one is ME, in the present day.

A horrible death at the end of a good life is better than a quiet death at the end of a wasted one.

That existing to continue your existence isn't worth it if your existence isn't worth fighting for.

That giving up your life is worth it if it makes a difference in the life of your friends; whether that is your existence or your time.

What makes life worth living isn't the big stuff, it's the important stuff...and those things rarely coincide.

Sparks for Later Flames

Creation without context; An exercise in Imagination:

Where is this happening? What is happening? Why?

"The science center primarily responsible for these discoveries is government funded, and thereby government over-watched. That's one reason I won't join the program. This," I indicated the room around me,  "Is exactly what it looks like."

"Ordinarily I'd ask 'where the hell am I'. I think I'll skip straight to what the hell am I doing here?!"

"I never told you? I mean you never 'fathomed me out'? This is...unanticipated but I cannot 'move away' in the strictest sense...I never lived here in the first place, just kept coming back."

“We all die at one time or another Colonel. And I for one would rather die today and have it mean something than outlive all my friends and bemoan a wasted life.”

Holding my four fingers together pointed upward with my thumb bent and pressed against my palm I instructed Am-riel. “Raise your right hand thus, and say 'by sense and service, I am a lamb'.” He did so and was released on his own authority and trust.

When we got to my home he turned to me and with sincere humility and grace spoke these words. “I thank you. I do not know why you have such complete trust and faith in me. But I thank you.”

“Didn't you hear my conversation with the queen? I can sense your pure heart. It is a gift of my people...the priesthood of all believers in Rao.”

Possible sculpting of a Story

Fully aware of how out of the blue this might seem but I wanted to get your advice on how to write a scene for one of my most prolific characters in my writings.

I'm writing a story that will be the last adventure my character Sasha Jordan Scott ever takes.

Or one of the last stops because she is herself getting too old and tired of the world to keep visiting Arrow's Star City, Merlin's Camelot and the X Mansion. there is one line I came across that hit me hard for a more real life reason. My character Sasha Jordan Scott just came across one such problem. She mentioned to a friend that this is 'one Sophie's Box I (she) is not gong to open'.  Obviously she is mixing metaphors and will be asked which idiom she means: Sophie's Choice or a Pandora's Box. The thing is, her mixing metaphors was deliberate and actually pretty accurate. She is referring to a literal choice her SISTER Sophie made once before. And  she's afraid she'll make the wrong choice, which would open up another Pandora's Box of hell.

I've been dismissed as not making sense a lot of times, I say something in a weird way or it's just really hard to know where I got these ideas. Most people don't stop to see that my ideas make sense no matter where I got them, and with a little time even the words themselves --what I literally said -- made sense and fit better what I was trying to say...however weird the words sounded. I'm trying to figure out how to leave NO doubt how true to life this part of my story is...without pouring over it too much or getting caught up in my 'poor me this really DID suck' phases I've had lately.

Possibly just how grinding teeth or visibly aggravated Sasha should be, or anyone would be to a friend who makes such an understandable and innocent, but deeply personal mistake.

Correcting something that doesn't need corrected...and splitting hairs instead of (as they think they are doing) pushing the hairs back together.
